Our First Egg

Our first egg came last Saturday. She then skipped Sunday and laid everyday of the week taking this past Saturday off and laid again Sunday and Monday. She didn’t lay yesterday, I’m guessing it was too dark and gloomy from the rain and then she laid another egg today.

It is so exciting to go get the egg everyday. I’m hoping more hens begin to lay soon. We are pretty sure it is one of the barred rocks who started to lay.

Josie loves to collect the egg too!

The eggs have stayed about the same size and color.

I scrambled them on Sunday and they were very rich tasting. You could definitely tell they came from our own chickens.

I’m happy to say I will never need to buy store eggs again!

  1. I remember the thrill of our first egg! It was right before Christmas and I put it in an egg cup under our tabletop Christmas tree. 😀

And hey, thanks for visiting me yesterday and your kind words.
